The long tenure of management has created multiple habitats that are ideal for deer from the more open woods along the road front to the regenerated forest areas thick with quality hardwood regeneration providing cover and escape habitat. The hardwood species present here are dominated by red oak, white oak, scartlet oak, soft maple, hickory, black oak and black cherry. The Sandy Creek Trail is nearby as well and is a 12-mile paved trail for biking and walking along Sandy Creek, eventually intersecting with the Allegheny River Trail.
